MANILA — Two construction workers were arrested by elements of Sub-Station 8 at the height of typhoon “Paeng” around 2:30 AM on October 29, 2022, at Ligaya Marcos Highway Barangay Dela Paz, Pasig City for the crimes of robbery and BP 6.

BP6 is short for Batas Pambansa Bilang 6. It is the reduced version of the penalty for the illegal possession of bladed, pointed, or blunt weapons.

According to the report submitted to Pasig City Police Station chief Colonel Celerino M. Sacro Jr., the suspects were identified as alias “Jomar” and
“Gilbert,” both of legal ages, construction workers, and residents of Pagray Mayamot Antipolo, Rizal.

Initial investigation disclosed that while a fast-food crew complainant was about to park his delivery motorcycle beside the restaurant when suspects suddenly appeared from nowhere and with intent to gain, one of the suspects pointed a knife towards the victim, declared hold-up, and tried to steal his sling bag.

A commotion ensued between them and at that instance, the arresting officer while on patrol duties noticed the ruckus and immediately responded to the incident which resulted in the arrest of the suspects and confiscation of a kitchen knife more or less 9.4 inches, from one of the suspects.

Immediately thereafter, the arrested suspects were apprised of their constitutional rights in a language known and understood by them and subsequently brought to the hospital for medical examination.

The complaints for “Robbery and BP 6” are now being readied for filing before the Pasig City Prosecutor’s Office.

“I highly commend our men on the ground, despite the inclement weather during the onslaught of typhoon “Paeng” they religiously uphold their sworn duties to keep Pasigueños safe from any harm,” Sacro said.

“Their timely intervention which resulted in the successful arrest of the suspects earn accolades not only from their colleagues in the PNP organization but the entire community as well,” Sacro said. (ai/mtvn)
