PBBM holds aerial inspection in Maguindanao

MANILA — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. conducted an aerial inspection Tuesday in typhoon-ravaged Maguindanao.

The entire Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is in a state of calamity after Typhoon Paeng caused flooding and landslides that resulted in the deaths of 53 aside from scores of missing people in Maguindanao.

The president also attended the situation briefing in Maguindanao with various government agencies and officials.

“Nakipagpulong si Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. kasama ang mga kinatawan ng iba’t ibang ahensya at lokal na gobyerno sa BARMM upang talakayin ang mga naisagawa at susunod pang mga tugon sa pananalanta ng Bagyong Paeng sa rehiyon,” the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) said.

Marcos also ordered that medicine be included in the aid that will be delivered to those affected by typhoon Paeng in the province.

The Chief Executive also pointed out the need for the immediate repair of the damaged power lines to restore power supply to the affected areas.

He said it should be a priority to restore electricity supply to areas with hospitals and evacuation centers.

Meanwhile, Marcos ordered the presence of the Department of Public Works and Highways BARMM District Office to speed up the repair of bridges and other roads when a disaster strikes the region. (ai/mtvn)
