MANILA — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said the government will provide the necessary aid for the victims of Severe Tropical Storm Paeng including cash assistance.
Marcos said that he brought half of his Cabinet members with him to ensure that help would arrive for those affected by the landslide in Maguindanao.
He said that P5,000 to P10,000 in financial assistance will also be given to those whose houses were damaged.
“Ininstraksyunan ko na si Secretary Erwin Tulfo na siya na imbes na tayo ang magbigay ng construction materials ay bibigyan na lang namin kayo depende, P5,000 to P10,000 bawat isa para makapagbili ng construction materials at para makapagpili kayo kung ano ‘yung gusto niyo,” Marcos added.
Meanwhile, he pointed out that ‘Paeng’ was a “different type” of typhoon.
“Ibang klase itong bagyo na Paeng dahil ang daming tinamaan hanggang Luzon, hanggang dito sa Mindanao may disaster dahil doon sa isang typhoon lang kaya’t naiba,” Marcos said on Tuesday as he visited Maguindanao.
Also, Marcos assured that the assistance to those in the evacuation center will continue.
“Sa evacuation center ang bilang yata ay 22,000 pa ang nandiyan. Kaya’t patuloy namin susuportahan ‘yan hanggang hanggang makabalik sa kani-kanilang bahay,” the Chief Executive added. (ai/mtvn)
