MANILA — One male suspect of cellphone theft was arrested by alert Barangay Security Force of Barangay Sta Lucia, Pasig City around 10 p.m. Wednesday (November 2, 2022) along Ortigas Avenue.
According to the report reaching Pasig City Police chief Colonel Celerino Sacro Jr., the suspect was identified as a.k.a. “Art”, male, 42 years old, with a live-in partner, jobless, and a resident of Brgy. Sto. Tomas, Pasig City.
Initial investigation revealed that the victim a.k.a., “JG,” female, 25 years old, single, online seller and a resident from Cainta, Rizal, was inside a passenger jeepney when the suspect surreptitiously took her cellphone, an expensive iPhone 13 worth P55,000, from inside her bag.
However, the victim immediately noticed the theft and immediately sought assistance from the patrolling Brgy. Sta Lucia Security Force who instantly responded to help the victim which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
The arrested suspect was apprised of his constitutional rights in a language known and understood by him as well as the charge leveled against him and subsequently brought to Rizal Medical Center (RMC) Pasig City for medical examination and later to this Station for filing of appropriate charge before the Pasig City Prosecutor’s Office.
Meanwhile, Sacro commended the efforts of Brgy. Sta. Lucia Security Force for the successful arrest of the suspect.
“We assure the public that this lawless element will be held accountable for the crime he committed,” the police chief said. (ai/mtvn)
