OVP conducts simultaneous relief ops in Paeng-affected areas

BACOOR, Cavite — Simultaneous relief operations in various Typhoon Paeng-affected areas throughout the country were conducted by the Office of the Vice President’s Disaster Operations Center (OVP-DOC) on Friday (November 4).

The OVP-DOC, in partnership with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the local government units, delivered sacks of rice, relief goods, bottled water, and items of clothing to the typhoon-hit areas of Cavite, Maguindanao, Antique, Leyte, Zamboanga City, and Cotabato City.

Volunteers from the Inday Sara Duterte Ako (ISDA) movement also joined the relief operations.

On November 1, the OVP-DOC turned over 100 sacks of rice for the typhoon-affected residents of San Pedro, Laguna which was received by Mayor Art Joseph Francis Mercado.

In Bacoor City, Mayor Strike Revilla thanked the OVP for the relief aid.

“In behalf of the people of Bacoor, Cavite, nagpapasalamat po kami kay Vice President Sara sa kanyang naitulong. Alam kong marami silang tinutulungan at natutulungan ngayon (we thanked Vice President Sara for her help. We know that they help a lot of people now),” Revilla said.

“Nagpapasalamat po kami sa inyo, ma’am, sa pagtulong sa ating kababayan. Umasa po kayo, ma’am, na nandito lang po kami kapag kailangan niyo po kami (We are grateful to you, ma’am, for helping our countrymen. We are only here if you need us),” he added.

The Bacoor City Social Welfare and Development Office reported that 69 out of its 73 barangays, with a total of 99,157 families, were heavily affected by the typhoon.

Affected residents of Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, and Cotabato City also received 200 sacks of rice, clothing, and bottled water.

The OVP-DOC, in partnership with the OVP Tacloban Satellite Office, also reached areas in Hilongos, Leyte, distributing 100 sacks of rice. Fifty sacks of rice were also turned over to members of the Indigenous People of Bato, Southern Leyte.

Zamboanga City also received 100 sacks of rice through the OVP Zamboanga Satellite Office and another 100 sacks of rice for the province of Antique through the OVP Bacolod Satellite Office. (ai/mtvn)
