MANILA — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that a new set of mall hours will be implemented in Metro Manila starting next week in preparation for the holiday season.
The MMDA added that based on the agreement with mall owners, the new mall hours will be effective starting on November 14, 2022, and will last until January 6, 2023.
This was after the meeting led by MMDA Acting Chairman Atty. Romando Artes to alleviate the expected worsening of traffic due to the upcoming Christmas.
“Starting November 14, malls in NCR will operate from 11 am to 11 pm instead of their usual operating hours. We have to implement remedial measures to reduce traffic congestion,” Artes said.
Artes added that the mall sale will only be held on weekends.
Meanwhile, Artes also said that they will conduct a further study on the traffic management plan.
“We will deploy the necessary number of traffic enforcers to man the traffic,” he said. (ai/mtvn)
