MANILA — Senator Robin Padilla said that laws should be implemented especially if they will benefit farmers, indigenous peoples, and ordinary Filipinos.

“Sana sa inyong hanay, dahil kayo ang hahawak ng law and order, alam naman natin pag walang law and order, walang mangyayari sa bansa. Dahil kayo ang inaasahan naming magtatanggol sa ating mga kababayan, tulungan po ninyo, tulungan nyo sila,” Padilla told present and future “Uniformed Heroes” — police, military, firefighters and Coast Guard — at the opening of the sportsfest of the National Police College in Cavite.

Padilla specifically advised officers to use both Filipino and English while speaking with suspects to ensure they are aware of the laws they broke and their rights.

Padilla also backed the Bureau of Fire Protection’s ongoing modernization in order to make Filipino firemen on par with or even superior to their international counterparts. (ai/mtvn)
