MANILA — The Pasig City Police arrested a male suspect for robbery, thanks to the quick and timely response of barangay police forces in Barangay Manggahan, Pasig City.
The incident happened at around 5 p.m. on Monday (07 November 2022) at the Buenmar Subdivision of the said barangay.
According to the report reaching Pasig police chief Col. Celerino Sacro Jr., the suspect was identified as alias “Arnold,” legal age, single, jobless’ and a resident of the same barangay.
Further investigation showed that while the suspect was walking along East Bank Road, Ramos Village, Brgy. Manggahan, Pasig City when the complainant’s live-in partner noticed the suspect was carrying the complainant’s handbag that he accordingly stole from the storage of their car tools.
Thereat, the live-in partner of the victim confronted the suspect about why the said handbag was in his possession, but instead, the suspect fled bringing the loot.
At that instance, he immediately proceeded to the place of incident where the vehicle of the complainant alias “Mercy” was parked unattended.
Upon arrival thereat, he found out that the right passenger window of the vehicle was broken, and its battery was already detached and stolen which prompted him to immediately inform his partner and sought assistance from the duty BSF of Brgy. Manggahan, Pasig City which resulted in the arrest of the suspect and recovery of the stolen handbag containing assorted tools.
The arrested suspect was informed of the nature of his arrest and apprised of his constitutional rights in a dialect known to him and subsequently brought to Rizal Medical Center (RMC) Pasig City for a medical examination.
A complaint for robbery was filed against the suspect before the City Prosecutor’s Office, Pasig City docketed under I.S. No. XV-14-INQ-22K-1329 dated November 8, 2022.
Meanwhile, Sacro commended the timely response and efforts of the force multipliers in maintaining peace and order in the City.
“Likewise, we assure the public that this individual will be held accountable for the crime he committed,” he said. (ai/mtvn)
