MANILA — Did Percy Lapid ever criticize convicted drug lord German Agojo? What could be Agojo’s motive in ordering the assassination of the hard-hitting broadcaster?
These questions swirled following the claim of beleaguered suspended Bureau of Corrections (BuCor ) chief Gerald Bantag that Agojo was the real mastermind.
Bantag revealed that Agojo was involved in the 2004 killing of Batangas Regional Trial Court Judge Voltaire Rosales, who had convicted him of selling shabu in 1999.
He added that Agojo was also one of the National Bilibid Prison (NBP) convicts who had testified against then-senator Leila de Lima, who was facing a drug trafficking charge before the Department of Justice (DoJ).
Agojo was also among six persons deprived of liberty (PDL) who wrote to the government in June 2016 to deny involvement in any plot to assassinate then-president Rodrigo Roa Duterte. (ai/mtvn)
