Tax lawyer hinirang ni PBBM na bagong Commissioner ng BIR

MANILA — Bagong tumulak papuntang Thailang nitong Martes upang mag-attend ng Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, hinirang ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang tax lawyer na si Romeo Lumagui Jr. bilang bagong pinuno ng Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
Ayon sa Office of the Press Secretary (OPS), nanumpa na si Lumagui nitong Martes din (14 Nov 2022).
Si Lumagui ay nagsilbi bilang dating deputy commissioner ng ahensya.
“The tax lawyer has also been designated to the project management and implementation service, which develops and oversees the implementation of the overall reform or modernization program of the BIR,” pahayag ng OPS.
“Lumagui headed several task forces to boost collections, such as the Assets Recovery Task Force, where total collections amounted to PHP833.69 million, and the Task Force on Direct Selling/Multi-Level Marketing and Investment Scams, where assessments totaled PHP792.56 million both in just a span of around one year,” dagdag pa nito.
Nanungkulan noon si Lumagui bilang technical assistant para sa commissioner, tax fraud head ng Revenue Region No. 6, Manila, Revenue Region No. 4, Pampanga, at Revenue Region No. 7B, East NCR.
