Marcos: Performance best way to earn trust

MANILA — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said on Thursday that performance is the “best way to earn the trust” of the people.

The President said during a question-and-answer portion at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Bangkok, Thailand that the “best politics is performance.”

“I always say the best politics is performance because it’s something that cannot be taken away from you and it is something that actually makes a difference in people’s lives,” Marcos said.

“Perform and you will get back the trust of the people and that is what we all politicians [do] and I’m sure even people from the business side… that is what we strive for,” he added.

Marcos addressed the APEC CEO Summit and emphasized the importance of the regional bloc in driving the global economy by urging member nations to uphold its vision and put it into action as soon as possible to address current issues.

A regional economic forum called APEC was started in 1989 to take advantage of the Asia-Pacific region’s expanding interconnectedness.

APEC’s 21 members aim to create greater prosperity for the people of the region by promoting balanced, inclusive, sustainable, innovative, and secure growth, and by accelerating regional economic integration.
