MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) officially lighted the colorful lanterns and a giant Christmas tree inside Camp Crame in Quezon City on Wednesday as the whole police force joins the nation in celebrating the Yuletide Season.

PNP Chief Police General Rodolfo S Azurin Jr led the countdown and traditional switching of lights during a short program held in front of the National Headquarters building which was attended by members of Command and Directorial Staff and Crame-based PNP Personnel.

“During this moment of peace and prosperity, challenge and change, it has been our annual tradition to gather around in front of our national headquarters building to kick off the holiday season inside the camp through a Ceremonial Lighting of Lanterns and Christmas Tree as we give thanks for everything that makes this time of year so magical and extra special,” PGen Azurin said in his message.

The PNP’s Yuletide Season theme this year is “Pasko Ng Pagkakaisa: Handog ay Malasakit, Kaagapay ang Kapulisan, Simbahan at Mamamayan.”

“Kasabay ng pag-sindi ng mga ilaw at mga parol ngayong gabi ay ang ating panalangin na magkaroon ng buong pusong serbisyong hatid ay malasakit para sa kaayusan at kapayapaan tungo sa kaunlaran ng ating bayan”, PNP Chief Azurin added.

Azurin said that this season of Christmas invites us to reflect and remember that whatever challenges life has brought to our lives, it should not prevent us from making this Christmas a merry and meaningful one by bringing new hope, positivity, and solutions to worries and uncertainties.

The invited guests who were present during the special occasion were Honorable Mayor Alme Rhummyla G Nicor-Mangilimutan of La Castellana Negros Occidental, who was a former Police Non-Commissioned Officer; former Chief PNP (Ret) Police General Nicanor Bartolome; (Ret) Police General Archie Gamboa together with Mrs. Gamboa; and CPNP’s wife, Mrs. Grace Azurin and daughter, Ms. Nina Azurin.

Among the highlights of the annual tradition was the launching of PNP Christmas ID 2022 entitled “PNP para sa Bayan”, the performance of “Bailes de Luces” Dancers of La Castellana Negros Occidental, the 10 minutes exhibition of PNP Band, the Singing of Christmas Songs by PNP Chorale and the dazzling fireworks display.
