CEBU CITY — In his bid to boost the morale of the police force here, Mayor Mike Rama has announced a raise in the monthly allowances of police officers.

From P2,500 monthly allowance, police enforcers of Cebu, a.k.a Queen City of the South, will now be receiving P5,000 per month.

This was disclosed by Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) deputy city director for administration Lieutenant Colonel Wilbert Parilla who said that Rama had already requested the City Council to include in their budget for next year the increase in allowance of the police.

“Yes, this is a big help for our personnel because the P5,000 can already buy two sacks of rice,” Parilla quipped.

He noted that policemen in this city are required to work 12 hours a day due to the many incidents that they have to respond to.

It was learned that the additional budget that the City has to spend for the additional allowance of policemen is around P4.7 million. (ai/mtvn)
