NBI ARRESTS 3 FOR ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF FIREARMS, AMMOS, EXPLOSIVES

MANILA — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Friday announced the arrest of suspects Darryl Eugenio, Ryan Espadero, and Ramil Talampas, following an operation implemented by the bureau’s Anti-Organized and Transnational Crime Division (AOTCD) in this city for Illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions.

The three suspects were slapped with cases under Republic Act 10591 otherwise known as the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act” and R.A. 9516 or law on Illegal Possession of Explosives.

The case stemmed from an information received by the NBI-AOTCD regarding the illegal activities/robbery in band being committed by a group of taxi drivers being headed by its leader, then identified only as Darryl as assisted by the two other suspects and other unidentified members of the said organized robbery/holdup group.

Investigation and series of intelligence operations conducted by NBI-AOTCD revealed that the robbery group is targeting taxicab passengers who are foreign nationals during wee hours from 12:00 midnight to 4:00 in the morning every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Also, the group allegedly used three taxis in their robbery operation.
After sometime, NBI-AOTCD received information that the subject robbery group will execute again their modus in the City of Manila.

Thus, the NBI-AOTCD planned an interdiction operation to arrest the members of the robbery group.

In the midnight of November 6, 2022, operatives of NBI-AOTCD proceeded to Malate, Manila and they saw one of the target taxi cabs parked along Madre Ignacia St. corner Quirino Avenue, Malate, Manila.

Knowing that the group was about to commit robbery, NBI-AOTCD operatives immediately approached the target taxicab and arrested subjects Eugenio, Espadero, and Talampas.

Found in the possession of Eugenio were one (1) pistol loaded with ammunition, one (1) grenade, and one (1) mobile phone.

On the other hand, confiscated from Espadero were one (1) revolver loaded with ammunitions, one (1) roll of Duct Tape, and one (1) pair of Scissors.

Also confiscated were various identification cards of the three arrested subjects.
