BORBON, Cebu — Saying it’s just like an early Christmas gift from Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Vice Mayor Roy Melgo on Saturday expressed profound gratitude for the cash aid amounting to P200,000 to each municipal and city councilors and P1 million each to vice mayors of Cebu province.

“If only, with this appropriation for our councilors and vice-mayors, we can prove that together as one, united we can do so much more for Cebu and the Cebuanos,” Garcia said in her speech at the PCL general assembly held at the Waterfront Hotel in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

Melgo said he will use the P1 million given by the governor to purchase more solar lamps in Barangay Poblacion in addition to the installed solar lamps from the P2 million previously given by Garcia.

On Thursday, Dec. 1, Garcia distributed P200,000 to each municipal and city councilor and P1 million each to vice mayors who attended the general assembly of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Cebu chapter.

Melgo is the vice chairman of the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines (VMLP) in Region 7 and treasurer of the VMLP – Cebu Chapter. (ai/mtvn)
