MANILA — Senator Grace Poe is eyeing to begin the Senate investigation on January 12 regarding the massive airport fiasco that happened on New Year’s Day (January 1, 2023) that started thousands of passengers.

“I intend to call for a hearing on Thursday, January 12,” Poe, chairperson of the Senate public services and transportation committees, said.

Poe stated that prior to starting the probe, they will give the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) time to restore operations in the nation’s primary airport.

“By that time key executives [should] not have an excuse not to attend,” the senator said.

Transportation officials blamed an “outdated” system for the closure of the Philippine airspace, which impacted over 65,000 passengers including thousands of overseas Filipino workers.
