Lacuna imposes liquor ban, work, and classes suspension in Manila

MANILA — In honor of the much-awaited Feast Day of the Black Nazarene, Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan suspended classes and work in Manila on the 9th of January 2023.

The city’s first-ever lady mayor also imposed a three-day liquor ban from Saturday until Monday or January 7-9, 2023.

The Office of the Mayor released Executive Order No. 1 declaring the suspension of classes at all levels and local government workers in the City of Manila on Monday, January 9, 2023, for the feast day of the Black Nazarene.

However, Lacuna explained that EO No. 1 does not cover the suspension of work in the national government offices located in Manila and so private companies in Manila.

These will be under the discretion of their management she said.

The Mayor also released Executive Order No. 2 imposing a liquor ban from January 7-9 in the city. 

It was also gathered that the world-famous Traslacion of the Black Nazarene remains suspended as agreed by the city government and administrators of Quiapo Church, home of the Black Nazarene, amid the lingering threat of Covid-19 infections.

A “Walk of Faith” from the Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church will temporarily replace the theTraslacion instead in which millions of devotees actively participate yearly before the pandemic.  (Source:MPIO/#AlertoManileno/ai/mtvn)
