MANILA — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. declared January 9, 2023, as a special non-working holiday in Manila in celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Manila be given the opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies,” Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said in Proclamation Number 120.

The proclamation was signed this Friday, January 6, 2023.

Millions of devotees are expected to participate in the Walk of Faith scheduled for Monday.

This year’s festival will still be without the customary “Traslacion” and “Pahalik” due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
