MANILA — The Office of the Vice President Disaster Operations Center (OVP-DOC) extended help to the residents of Palawan who have been affected by heavy rains and flooding due to a low-pressure area.

The OVP-DOC sent more than 27,000 kilos of rice to the municipalities of Brooke’s Point and Sofronio Española to various evacuation centers in Palawan for 2,295 of the residents affected by massive flooding.

Vice President Sara Duterte-Caprio expressed her gratitude to Palawan Provincial Government for their service to provide to the affected residents.

“Nagpapasalamat kami sa Palawan Provincial Government (PPG), Palawan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), at Philippine Coast Guard Palawan sub-station sa kanilang taos-pusong serbisyo upang mabigyan ng tulong and ating mga apektadong kababayan,” she said in a Facebook post.

Her office also extended help to those affected by flooding in Agusan Del Norte and Agusan Del Sur.

More than 500 sacks of rice and 500 relief boxes containing essential items such as water, sanitary items, mats, blankets, mosquito nets, and face masks were delivered to families in various evacuation centers in the province.
