LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — As the “mother” of this historic resort city, Lapu-Lapu City lone Congresswoman Cindi Chan has given priority to the health care of all Oponganons as she eyed to allocate P40 million from congressional funds for the expansion of the Sta. Rosa Community Hospital in Olango island.
This was learned after the neophyte lawmaker and wife of Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan met with Dr. Joel Semblante, Sta. Rosa Community Hospital chief, and some personnel at her office on Wednesday, January 18.
According to the Lapu-Lapu City Public Information Office (PIO), Cong. Cindi has already downloaded P5 million to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital as Malasakit Funds.
Cong. Cindi said she will formally request the Department of Health (DOH) that the same be extended to the Sta. Rosa Community Hospital so that the people in Olango can enjoy the benefits of the Malasakit Program.
This is in line with her campaign promise, together with her husband-mayor, to prioritize the public hospitals in this city to provide quality services and make them “more accessible for the less fortunate.”
Tackled during her meeting with Dr. Semblante were the rehabilitation projects to upgrade the district hospital, including “Cong Cindi’s plan” to build helpdesks on Olango Island where people can process their medical and burial assistance without having to travel to the mainland of Mactan.
The lady solon also said that she will strive harder to put up a satellite branch of the Malasakit Center so that residents of Olango island could take advantage of its services to help them with their hospital bills. (ai/mtvn)
