MANILA — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his official delegation have returned to the country after attending the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, his eighth trip abroad overall since assuming power in June last year.

Marcos said he was satisfied with the progress of his participation in the WEF.

“The trip has yielded beneficial outcomes relative to new trade and investment opportunities, key partnerships forged to support our development program, a better appreciation for Filipino workers and professionals, and the promise of an increased level of cooperation with various countries around the world,” the President said in his arrival speech.

Three weeks from now, Marcos is scheduled to fly to Japan for another state visit.

“This trip is fairly unique for the medium to long-term goodwill and interest we have generated for our country, our enterprises, and our people. Through the multi-stakeholder platform provided by World Economic Forum, the Philippines is able to articulate and exchange views on pressing issues that impact the lives and livelihood of all Filipinos,” he said.

The Makabayan bloc had previously criticized Marcos’ lavish trip to Davos where at least 70 individuals joined him in his economic forum trip.
