OVP provides help in Zamboanga Peninsula

MANILA — The Office of the Vice President Disaster Operations Center (OVP-DOC) has provided assistance to the residents of the Zamboanga Peninsula who were affected by intermittent rains brought about by a low-pressure area and massive flooding.

With the help of the OVP Zamboanga Satellite Office, Zamboanga de Norte Provincial Government, and Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), the LGU has delivered more than 500 sacks of rice to 4,318 families or 17,863 affected residents in the province of Zamboanga del Norte last January 24.

OVP-DOC also went to the province of Zamboanga del Sur and distributed 200 sacks of rice to 606 families or 2,849 residents.

Zamboanga del Sur Governor Victor Yu and Molave Municipal Mayor Ireneo Glepa received the sacks of rice last January 24 and 25.

More than 100 sacks of rice were also received by 203 families in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay.

“Lubos kaming nagpapasalamat sa OVP Zamboanga Satellite Office, sa mga local government units ng Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay at sa kanilang mga Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices sa mabilis na pagresponde at tulong para sa mga kababayan nating apektado ng pagbaha,” OVP said.
