MANILA — Mapua recovered from a sluggish start en route to chalking up its fourth straight win in as many games via a 76-62 blasting of San Beda Wednesday in the NCAA juniors basketball tournament at the EAC Gym. U
Nygel Gonzales led Mapua scorers with 18 points, including a lay-up that gave the Red Robins a 10-0 lead in the opening canto. He also had six rebounds and six assists.
Sean Salvador also chipped in 11 points for Mapua aside from three crucial assists, three boards and two blocks.
The Mendiola-based Red Cubs showed the way in the early going but Red Robins recovered their form and led by as much as 20 points, on a Noel Agemenyi jumper with 2:56 remaining, and never looked back.
Hot-shooting Chris Huballa did his best for San Beda as he came away with 18 points, 11 rebounds and three assists.
