MANILA — A total of 500 newly-hired health personnel are now ready for deployment under the National Health Workforce Support System (NHWSS) following their oathtaking on Monday (27 Feb 2023) in San Fernando City, La Union.
Department of Health-Ilocos Region Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco administered the oathtaking.
The new health personnel will be deployed in the four provinces of the Ilocos region Sydiongco said.
She encouraged the new health workers to go beyond the limit and walk the extra mile in doing their duties for the benefit and improvement of our people’s health and well-being.
The health workers this year will now be under the NHWSS program which is in charge of the deployment, redistribution, and retainment of health workers in the country to enhance access to quality health services and improve health outcomes in the communities.
This will be composed of nurses, midwives, medical doctors, medical technologists, dentists, pharmacists, nutritionists, and physical therapists.
There are 93 health workers deployed in Pangasinan, 133 in La Union, 180 for Ilocos Sur, and 94 in Ilocos Norte.
Undersecretary for Field Implementation and Coordination Team (FICT)-North Luzon Eric A. Tayag expressed his gratitude to the new batch of HWs and emphasized their vital role in achieving health and building the resilience of communities and health systems to better respond to health challenges in the field.
The HWs hired for 2023 are lower than last year, but local government units will also be hiring health workers to augment the needed number for their localities. (Amado Inigo/MTVN)
