BUTUAN CITY – Police operatives have nabbed an alleged high-value individual (HVI) and a cohort following a shabu buy-bust operation at the Mernilo Beach Resort here, an official said Thursday.
Brig. Gen. Pablo Labra II, director of the Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13), said suspect Kenneth Jed Bariquit, 34, was arrested Wednesday evening along with another suspect, Liezel Talines, 19.
The raiding team confiscated from the suspects 130 grams of shabu with a street value of PHP884,000.
“Bariquit is classified as an HVI and a priority target of PRO-13 while Talines is listed as a street-level individual,” Labra said.
He added that Bariquit is a former drug surrenderer who yielded to police authorities in 2016.
“There is no slowing down in our fight against illegal drugs and in going after those involved in illegal drugs,” Labra said.
The suspects are now under the custody of the police’s Regional Intelligence Division to face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
