Over 2K HFMD cases in Iloilo province recover

ILOILO CITY – All cases of hand, foot and mouth disease recorded in Iloilo province’s 40 local government units (LGUs) have recovered, according to the Provincial Health Office Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PHO-PESU) on Tuesday.

“As of today, all 2,407 cases of the HFMD from Jan. 1 to Feb. 25 are tagged as recovered,” Provincial Health Officer Rodney Labis said in a media interview.

Nonetheless, he said the PHO continues to partner with government agencies like the Department of Health, Department of Education, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, and other stakeholders for the prevention and control program of the disease.

“Our intervention is focused mainly on health prevention to increase the awareness of the community on prevention and early detection so it will be properly managed and effective disease surveillance for timely and appropriate response by our health offices,” he added.

Data from the PESU showed the only the towns of Dingle, Carles and Guimbal have no HFMD cases.

The towns with the most number of cases, however, were Sta. Barbara, Alimodian, Leon, Calinog and Badiangan. (PNA)
