BOC-Port of Cebu now in ‘good hands’ with District Collector Dhucky Ugay

BOC-Port of Cebu District Collector Dhucky Ugay

LOOKS LIKE the Bureau of Customs-Port of Cebu is now in good hands with District Collector Ciriaco “Dhucky” DG Ugay at the helm.

Ugay replaced lawyer Elvira Cruz who was transferred to BOC Port of Clark in the latest reshuffle made by Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio and approved by Finance Secretary Benjamin E. Diokno.

As the new district collector of the premier Port of Cebu, Collector Ugay is expected to consistently meet and surpass the revenue collection target for the remaining months of 2023.

It can be noted that for the month of April 2023, the Bureau of Customs–Port of Iloilo then under the leadership of Ugay exceeded its collection target. As of April 28, the Port recorded an actual collection of P476.10 million, surpassing the month’s target of P381.89 million by P94.21 million or 24.67%.

Collector Dhucky, however, is no stranger to the men and women of BOC Port of Cebu.

He previously held the position of Collector for Operations of the Sub-Port of Mactan.

“Mahusay na lider si Collector Dhucky at magaling din na makisama” was the unanimous reaction of most employees of Port of Cebu.

I can’t help but agree.

As a caring official, last April 25 Collector Ugay inspected the facilities of the Sub-Port of Pulupandan under the jurisdiction of Port of Iloilo during the visit and conducted a staff meeting to discuss relevant projects and activities.

Collector Ugay and Sub-Port Collector Julius B. Premediles awarded Ms. Anita F. Saylon, Acting Chief of Assessment and Export Units, with a plaque of appreciation for her 30 years of hard work, dedication, and commitment to public service.

Personally, I believe that Collector Dhucky remains committed to collect lawful revenues while implementing enhanced border control and trade facilitation measures of the BOC in line with the marching orders of Commissioner Rubio and, of course, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.

The BOC has once again exceeded its revenue collection target, generating P68.274 billion for April 2023, compared to its target of P68.199 billion.

This is a 3.97% increase from last year’s collection of P65.669 billion for the same period.

Meanwhile, the Cebuano Freemasons congratulate and warmly welcome Collector Dhucky Ugay as their “exemplary and worthy Brother Mason” who brings honor and pride to the world’s oldest and largest fraternity. (ai/mtvn)
