MANILA — Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) celebrated the addition of a new member in the House of Representatives, bringing their total strength to 71.
In a ceremony held at the Speaker’s Office in Quezon City, Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, who is also the president of Lakas-CMD, warmly welcomed Bukidnon Rep. Jonathan Keith Flores into the party.
Speaker Romualdez expressed his gratitude to Rep. Flores for joining the party, emphasizing its commitment to working towards a brighter future for the nation.
The oath-taking was witnessed by prominent House officials, including former President and senior Deputy Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, who serves as the Lakas-CMD chairperson emeritus.
Speaker Romualdez, delighted by Rep. Flores’ decision to join Lakas-CMD, commended him for becoming a partner in amplifying the people’s voice and driving positive change.
He also encouraged all Lakas-CMD members to collaborate with the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos Jr. to create a more inclusive and prosperous future and make a significant impact in addressing the country’s pressing issues.
Highlighting their unwavering support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Agenda for Prosperity and socio-economic development roadmap, Speaker Romualdez urged everyone to unite in their pursuit of meaningful progress in tackling the nation’s challenges.
It is worth noting that earlier this year, Lakas-CMD welcomed two more House members, Rep. Peter B. Miguel of South Cotabato 2nd District and Rep. Ruth Mariano-Hernandez of Laguna 2nd District, as the 69th and 70th members, respectively. (ai/mtvn)
