Milisyang Bayan member surrenders to authorities in OccMin 

MANILA — In San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, a member of the Milisyang Bayan voluntarily surrendered, bringing with them firearms and other war equipment. 

The surrender was facilitated by troops from the 64th Infantry “Kaagapay” Battalion at Barangay Bayotbot. 

The individual, known as Alias Jay/Jojo, is a member of Milisyang Bayan and a remnant of Platoon GMK from the Sub-Regional Military Area 4D of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee. 

Alias Jay turned in one M653 Colt rifle with a short magazine containing 18 rounds of ammunition, one Caliber 45 Armscor pistol with a magazine holding 7 rounds of ammunition, and one Hand Grenade.

Major General Roberto S. Capulong, the Commander of the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division, expressed dedication to peace efforts across Mindoro, working alongside local government and security partners. 

He called on the remaining members of the NPA to respond to the government’s call for peace and support the initiatives aimed at bringing stability and development to Mindoro. (ai/mtvn)
