BOC-Legazpi under DC Jun Barte welcomes first-ever fuel importation

TRUE LEADERS make history and this is proven when the Bureau of Customs-Port of Legazpi under the leadership of District Collector Segundo Sigmundfreud Barte Jr. welcomed its first-ever fuel importation.

Carrying 5,076,234 liters of Gasoil consigned to Jetti Petroleum Inc., MV Peninsula XI arrived at the Port of Pasacao, Camarines Sur last May 8.

“With this monumental achievement, the port is confident that it will hit and surpass its monthly revenue collection in the coming months and years,” the BOC-Legazpi posted on its Facebook page.

This historic feat was made possible through the decisive leadership of Collector Jun Barte who has expressed confidence that as an authorized Port of Discharge, the BOC-Legazpi will encourage more investors to import fuel products.

Under Collector Jun Barte’s leadership, BOC-Legazpi has adopted a proactive approach to emerge as an authorized port of discharge for gasoline, diesel, and kerosene arriving in bulk.

“This has paved the way for more companies to invest in Bicol and venture into importation,” the BOC-Legazpi District Collector further said.

The fuel is set to be marked in accordance with the Fuel Marking Program, mandated under the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law, to curb smuggling and misdeclaration of petroleum products in the country and increase the collection from taxable imported and locally refined petroleum products.

This development was in line with the program of Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio to hit and surpass the revenue target under the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Ever since Collector Jun Barte took the helm of BOC-Legazpi, the port has become lively.

Last Thursday, May 18, in celebration of its 150th founding anniversary, the Port hosted a Quiz Bee for Customs Administration students from the Bicol region.

It also held an awarding ceremony to honor the Port’s top importers.

And caring as ever to his fellow public servants, Collector Jun Barte made sure that the event recognized the BOC-Legazpi employees who have rendered 10 years or more of dedicated service and utmost professionalism.
