MANILA — Jose Arturo Tugade, the current chief of the Land Transportation Office (LTO), has tendered his resignation from the position.
Tugade, who assumed the role in November 2022, cited differences in opinions and approaches with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) chief Jaime Bautista as the primary reason for his decision to step down.
“While the DOTr and LTO share the common goal of serving the public successfully, our methods to achieve that goal vary. In light of this, I have chosen to resign, allowing Secretary Jimmy Bautista of the DOTr to freely select someone he can work harmoniously with,” Tugade stated.
Tugade, son of former DOTr secretary Arthur Tugade, expressed his continued support for the LTO’s achievements as a private citizen. “I will always share Secretary Bautista’s conviction that our agencies can be a powerful force for positive change in our country,” he affirmed.
His resignation will become effective on June 1.
