MANILA – The eastern regions of Visayas and Caraga are anticipated to encounter scattered rain showers and thunderstorms as a result of the easterlies influencing the eastern expanse of the Philippines according to the weather bureau on Monday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) cautioned that moderate to heavy rains in these areas may lead to flash floods or landslides.
Localized thunderstorms will trigger isolated rain showers in other parts of the country.
PAGASA forecaster Obet Badrina, in the agency’s 5 a.m. bulletin, remarked, “The rest of the country will generally experience fair weather with sporadic rains that are expected to be brief.”
However, PAGASA warned of the potential for severe thunderstorms that could also prompt flash floods or landslides.
Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds are predicted in the northern and eastern regions, accompanied by moderate to rough coastal waters.
In contrast, elsewhere, winds are forecasted to be light to moderate, with seas ranging from slight to moderate.
Badrina mentioned that no tropical cyclones were detected that could impact the country.
“There is a slim chance for a tropical cyclone to develop or enter the country during Holy Week,” he added.
