In its latest 4 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that a shear line affecting the eastern part of the Visayas, coupled with the northeast monsoon or “amihan” prevailing over Luzon, is poised to bring scattered or isolated rain showers across the Philippines.
The weather disturbance will manifest as cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over specific areas including the Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Caraga, Davao de Oro, Davao Oriental, Palawan, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi. The impact is attributed to the shear line and the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA).
Concurrently, the northeast monsoon, ‘amihan,’ is anticipated to usher in cloudy skies with light rains over Batanes and Cagayan, encompassing the Babuyan Islands. Luzon, including Metro Manila, is expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the ‘amihan.’
The rest of the country will witness partly cloudy to cloudy skies with sporadic rain showers or thunderstorms, a consequence of the shear line and localized thunderstorms, as indicated by PAGASA.
Moderate to strong winds, alongside moderate to rough seas, are anticipated over Luzon and the eastern portions of the Visayas and Mindanao. In contrast, lighter to moderate wind speeds and slight to moderate seas are forecasted for the remaining regions.
As for temperatures, Metro Manila is projected to range from 24°C to 33°C, Baguio City from 16°C to 25°C, Laoag City from 25°C to 34°C, Legazpi City from 25°C to 31°C, Metro Cebu from 23°C to 30°C, Puerto Princesa City from 26°C to 32°C, and Metro Davao from 24°C to 30°C, according to PAGASA.
