MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued a warning on Sunday (13 Apr 2025) about dangerously high heat index levels in 20 areas across the country, with temperatures feeling between 42°C and 45°C.
The heat index combines air temperature and humidity, giving an accurate measure of how hot it feels to the human body. Areas affected include:
Sangley Point, Cavite – 44°C
Virac, Catanduanes – 44°C
San Ildefonso, Bulacan – 44°C
Dagupan City, Pangasinan – 43°C
Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas – 43°C
Iloilo City, Iloilo – 43°C
Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – 42°C
NAIA, Pasay City, Metro Manila – 42°C
PAGASA categorizes heat indices from 42°C to 51°C as a “danger” level, while 33°C to 41°C is under “extreme caution.” The public is advised to avoid outdoor activities, stay hydrated, and wear protective clothing. Heat cramps, exhaustion, or even heat stroke are risks at these levels.
The agency also reported isolated rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies, though no tropical storms or low-pressure areas are currently monitored in the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
