SAN JUAN, La Union — Under the scorching heat of the sun, Ean Cajucom of the Victoria Sports Pro Cycling Team dominated Stage 3 of the Tour of Luzon, which followed the Vigan to San Juan route, on Saturday.
Hailing from Marikina City, the 22-year-old Cajucom clocked in at two hours, 51 minutes, and 42 seconds to finish the 130-kilometer race and claim the coveted purple jersey as stage winner.
Joo Dae Yeong of South Korea, the Stage 1 champion, managed to retain the yellow jersey (overall race leader) even though he didn’t make it to the podium in Stage 3.
Ilah Ahmad Awang of Malaysia Pro Cycling and Poul Aquino of Dreyna Orion Cement recorded the same finishing time as Cajucom, but they landed in second and third place, respectively, due to lower tiebreak points compared to the champion.
The next stage of the Tour of Luzon 2025 is Stage 4, which will take place tomorrow, Sunday, April 27.
The route runs from Agoo, La Union to Clark, Pampanga, covering a distance of 150 kilometers.
It will pass through the length of MacArthur Highway, so temporary road closures are expected along sections of the race route.
Stage 4 is expected to be fast and challenging, with flat and rolling terrain, which could give sprinters and breakaway specialists a chance to shine.
Summary of upcoming stages:
Stage 5 (April 28): Clark to New Clark City (Capas, Tarlac) and back to Clark — 120 km
Stage 6 (April 29): Clark to Lingayen, Pangasinan — 150 km
Stage 7 (April 30): Individual Time Trial in Lingayen — 30 km
Stage 8 (May 1): Lingayen to Camp John Hay, Baguio City — 180 km, including a steep climb up Kennon Road
The final stage is considered the most challenging, especially the last 25 km ascending Kennon Road, known for its steep and winding path.
