MANILA – The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will continue to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, and Palawan, according to PAGASA Friday (16 May 2025).

The weather bureau warned of possible flash floods and landslides in areas experiencing moderate to heavy rains.

Elsewhere in the country, isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may occur due to easterlies. Winds and seas are expected to remain light to moderate nationwide.

As of 2 a.m., PAGASA reported no low-pressure area or potential cyclone formation.

Meanwhile, extreme heat persists in several parts of Luzon. Heat index levels are expected to hit:

44°C in Bacnotan (La Union), Infanta (Quezon), Sangley Point (Cavite), and San Jose (Occidental Mindoro)

43°C in Laoag, Dagupan, Aparri, and Daet

42°C in multiple locations including NAIA, Tuguegarao, Olongapo, Batangas, and parts of Palawan, Bicol, and Eastern Visayas

PAGASA categorized these conditions under the “danger” level (42°C–51°C), cautioning the public against prolonged exposure due to heightened risks of heat-related illnesses such as cramps, exhaustion, or heat stroke.
