MANILA — A Low Pressure Area (LPA) embedded within the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is expected to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over parts of Mindanao and Palawan, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
As of 3:00 AM, the LPA was located 805 kilometers east of Southern Mindanao (5.2°N, 132.3°E). The weather disturbance is currently enhancing the ITCZ, which is affecting Palawan and most of Mindanao, while easterlies continue to influence weather conditions across the rest of the country.
Weather Forecast
The Davao Region and other areas in Mindanao, along with Palawan, can expect cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. PAGASA warns of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, mostly due to the prevailing easterlies. Localized thunderstorms may cause sudden heavy rains, which could also lead to flash floods or landslides in vulnerable areas.
Wind and Coastal Waters
Moderate winds from the northeast to east will prevail over Extreme Northern Luzon, bringing moderate coastal seas with waves ranging from 1.2 to 2.1 meters. For the rest of the country, light to moderate winds from the east to northeast will result in slight to moderate sea conditions, with wave heights between 0.6 to 1.5 meters.
PAGASA continues to monitor the LPA for any further development. Residents in affected areas are advised to stay updated through official forecasts and advisories.
