MANILA — A total of 40,283 police officers have been deployed by the Philippine National Police (PNP) for Holy Week.

According to PNP Spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo, the officers have been assigned to transportation hubs, tourist destinations, and churches across the country to ensure public safety and order.

Fajardo emphasized that the number of deployed personnel is sufficient to maintain peace and security during the Holy Week observance.

Since April 1, the PNP has been on heightened alert status, with 75 percent of its personnel dedicated to Holy Week-related operations.

PNP Chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil said the heightened alert status is part of the agency’s proactive measures to safeguard the public during the religious holiday.

“Let us ensure the safety of our people. Let them feel the presence of the police force at checkpoints and chokepoints,” Marbil said.
