MANILA – Ish Polvorosa of Criss Cross has been named Spikers’ Turf Press Corps Player of the Week, presented by Pilipinas Live, for the week of March 5 to 9.
Polvorosa is the first setter to earn this honor, awarded by print and online reporters covering the league, which is streamed live and on-demand via the Pilipinas Live app and on spikersturf.ph.
He surpassed teammates Jude Garcia and Jaron Requinton, Savouge’s Mark Calado, and Cignal’s Wendel Miguel.
Polvorosa has been instrumental in leading the King Crunchers’ offense with precision and control, helping them maintain a perfect 6-0 record in the 2025 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference.
He registered 18 excellent sets and four blocks in their 25-23, 25-21, 25-17 win over the Cignal HD Spikers last Wednesday at the FilOil EcoOil Arena in San Juan.
Polvorosa also recorded 12 sets as Criss Cross defeated Alpha Insurance, 25-10, 25-12, 25-11, last Sunday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
“We’ve learned from the past year that it’s not just about winning early games. That’s not the goal. At the end of the day, we still need to be steadfast. Our mindset should be one game at a time, focusing on the championship we dream of,” said the 27-year-old former Ateneo standout.
The King Crunchers will face the VNS-Laticrete Griffins on Wednesday at the Ynares Sports Arena.
