MANILA – Isolated rain showers and thunderstorms will persist across most parts of the Philippines due to the prevailing easterlies, according to PAGASA.

A frontal system is also affecting extreme Northern Luzon, bringing scattered rains and thunderstorms to Batanes, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Apayao, Abra, and Kalinga. These areas may experience flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country can expect isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. Moderate winds and seas are forecast in extreme Northern Luzon, while other areas will experience light to moderate conditions.

As of 2 a.m., PAGASA reported no low-pressure area or tropical cyclone forming within the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Meanwhile, dangerous heat indices continue, with Sangley Point, Cavite possibly hitting 46°C. Heat indices may reach:

45°C in Daet, Legazpi City, and Pili

44°C in NAIA, Dagupan, and Masbate City

43°C in 11 other areas including Iloilo, Capiz, and Occidental Mindoro

42°C in Quezon City’s Science Garden

PAGASA warns that heat indices between 42°C and 51°C fall under the “danger” category, posing risks of heat cramps, exhaustion, and heat stroke, especially with prolonged exposure.
