MANILA – Hot and humid weather continues to affect most of the country due to easterlies, while a frontal system brings scattered rains and thunderstorms to Batanes and Babuyan Islands, the state weather bureau said Sunday (11 May 2025).
According to PAGASA’s 4 a.m. bulletin, isolated rain showers and severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides, including in Metro Manila. Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are expected nationwide.
Meanwhile, at least 24 areas are forecast to experience “danger” level heat indices ranging from 42°C to 44°C, posing a high risk of heat cramps, exhaustion, or stroke with prolonged exposure.
Areas with heat index of 44°C:
Tuguegarao, Cagayan
Tayabas City, Quezon
Areas at 43°C include:
Laoag City, Bacnotan, Echague, Iba, Sangley Point, Coron, San Jose (Occ. Mindoro), Cuyo (Palawan), Dumangas (Iloilo), and Butuan City.
Areas at 42°C include:
Dagupan City, Batac, Aparri, Subic Bay (Olongapo), Bulacan, Infanta, Tanauan, Alabat, Masbate City, Iloilo City, Roxas City, and Tacloban.
Health authorities advise avoiding direct sun exposure between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., especially for vulnerable groups and those with medical conditions.
