MANILA – Fair weather will prevail across most of the country, but dangerous heat levels are expected in five areas, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The heat index—a measure combining air temperature and humidity—may hit 43°C in Sangley Point (Cavite), Puerto Princesa (Palawan), Virac (Catanduanes), Dumangas (Iloilo), and La Granja in La Carlota (Negros Occidental), said PAGASA forecaster Chenel Dominguez.

These are classified under the danger level (42°C–51°C), where heat cramps, exhaustion, and even heatstroke are possible with continued exposure.

Metro Manila may experience a heat index of up to 40°C, particularly in Pasay City and Quezon City.

No low pressure area is present inside or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. However, rains may occur in some areas due to two weather systems:

A frontal system affecting extreme Northern Luzon may bring rain to Batanes, Cagayan, and Apayao.

Easterlies will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, with risks of flash floods or landslides.

Dominguez added that the rest of the country will have generally warm and fair weather, with chances of isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

Moderate winds and coastal waters are expected in Northern Luzon, while other areas will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
