MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasts sunny weather for most areas of the country on Thursday (10 Apr 2025), with isolated rain showers expected in the afternoon and evening.
The prevailing easterlies will bring warm and humid conditions across the nation. PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja noted that temperatures could reach up to 35°C in Tuguegarao City and 34°C in Metro Manila.
Other areas like Puerto Princesa, Iloilo, and Davao are expected to experience temperatures of around 33°C. Additionally, 17 areas are projected to experience heat indices ranging from 42°C to 51°C, with heat cramps and exhaustion a concern under these conditions.
High heat indices of 43°C are expected in Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Coron, Palawan; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; and Virac, Catanduanes, while a heat index of 42°C is forecast in various locations including Isabela, Bulacan, and Zamboanga City.
The heat index represents the apparent temperature felt by the human body when humidity combines with air temperature, and danger-level indices can lead to heatstroke if exposure continues.
In the afternoon, the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will begin to affect the eastern parts of Visayas and Mindanao, bringing cloudy skies and scattered rains with possible thunderstorms. This could result in flash floods or landslides in areas like Caraga, Eastern Visayas, and parts of Davao.
The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas. PAGASA also confirmed that no tropical cyclones are expected to develop before the start of Holy Week.
