Duterte bats for elevation of food adequacy level amid crisis

President Rodrigo R. Duterte said in his state-of-the-nation (SONA) address a PhP66B agricultural stimulus package, which includes the Plant, Plant, Plant program, will help the agricultural and fisheries sector recover from the blow of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

Agriculture Secretary William Dar previously recommended to lawmakers a PhP66B stimulus plan which will be used to mitigate the effects of Covid-19 on the agriculture sector. The stimulus package includes PhP15B for the cash-for-work program for agri-fishery workers, PhP20B for the food logistics or food markets, and PhP31B for “Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat” (Alpas) “Kontra sa Covid-19,” or called the “Plant, Plant, Plant” program.

We will not dodge obligation to fight for human rights: PRRD

PRRD warns ‘opportunists’ amid Covid-19 pandemic

President Rodrigo R. Duterte warned “opportunists” amid the government’s response to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic. He acknowledged during his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) that the implementation of the social amelioration program (SAP), which intends to give financial aid to needy Filipinos, is “not perfect.”

“Admittedly, our implementation of the social amelioration program was not perfect. And some opportunists turned crisis into opportunity. We will catch up with you sooner than you think,” he told the nation.

Then he linked the anti-dynasty system with oligarchy and the topic was my daughter and son. This happened after the Committee on Franchise voted 70-11 to deny the grant of franchise to ABS-CBN. Obviously, he was defending the Lopezes that they are not oligarchs,” Duterte said.

Duterte: Do not despair, vaccine is around the corner

“Let us not despair. The vaccine is around the corner. Sooner and not later, the virus that gobbled up thousands of lives will itself be laid to rest,” Pres. Rodrigo R. Duterte said in his fifth state of the nation address (SONA) on Monday. He recently appealed to Chinese President Xi Jinping to commit to giving the Philippines the privilege of being among the first countries to avail of a potential Covid-19 vaccine once it is available.

Earlier, the President said China, among other countries, is developing a vaccine that could be available as early as September. He acknowledged that developing a vaccine may take some time but at the same time, gave credit to all workers on the frontline against Covid-19.
