MANILA — Former Presidential Adviser on Creative Communications Paul Soriano is no longer connected to Malacañang, a senator said Thursday.

Senator Sonny Angara, chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, made the confirmation on Thursday during the budget deliberation of the Office of the President (OP).

The information that Soriano is no longer in the Marcos administration emerged after Senate Minority Leader “Koko” Pimentel III asked it during the deliberations.

Angara responded negatively.

The film director was named as an adviser in October 2022 and went on leave last July 2023, Palace said, or days shortly after PBBM delivered his second SONA.

Soriano’s role as Presidential Adviser for Creative Communications was to advise government agencies and departments “on matters that will enhance their information dissemination programs and initiatives,” as said earlier by the Malacañang.

Malacañang has yet to issue an official statement regarding the matter.

Soriano is the husband of actress Toni Gonzaga who interviewed Marcos months before the May 9 national elections last year.
