MANILA — The Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP) has officially announced the nominees for the 46th Gawad Urian Awards, set to take place on November 29th at 5 p.m. The prestigious event will be held at the UP Film Institute in Quezon City.

Here are the nominees in various categories:

Best Actress: Max Eigenmann (“12 Weeks”), Chai Fonacier (“Nocebo”), Shiela Francisco (“Leonor Will Never Die”), and Nadine Lustre (“Deleter”).

Best Actor: Tommy Alejandrino (“The Baseball Player”), John Lloyd Cruz (“Kapag Wala Nang Mga Alon”), Baron Geisler (“Doll House”), Andrew Ramsey (“Ginhawa”), and Noel Trinidad (“Family Matters”).

Best Supporting Actress: Shamaine Centenera (“Kapag Wala Nang Mga Alon”), Claudia Enriquez (“12 Weeks”), Bing Pimentel (“12 Weeks”), and Nikki Valdez (“Family Matters”).

Best Director: Ma-an Asuncion-Dagñalan (“Blue Room”), Lav Diaz (“Kapag Wala Nang Mga Alon”), Martika Ramirez Escobar (“Leonor Will Never Die”), Anna Isabelle Matutina (“12 Weeks”), Carlo Obispo (“The Baseball Player”), and Mikhail Red (“Deleter”).

These nominations represent the pinnacle of achievement in Philippine cinema over the past year.

The Gawad Urian Awards are widely regarded as the most prestigious accolades for films in the Philippines and are often seen as the local equivalent of the United States’ New York Film Critics Circle.

In the 2022 edition of the awards, “On The Job: The Missing 8” emerged as the big winner, securing nine out of its 12 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director for Erik Matti, and Best Actor for John Arcilla.
