In a highly anticipated debut, K-pop sensation Babymonster took the stage on Sunday (26 Nov 2023) with their latest single, “Batter Up,” marking the latest addition to the powerhouse K-pop label that catapulted renowned girl group Blackpink to stardom.

The group unveiled the music video for “Batter Up” on their official YouTube channel, showcasing the six members exuding charisma while delivering the hip-hop-heavy track in diverse settings.

Hailing from different corners of the globe, the multinational lineup includes Rami (formerly Haram) and Rora from South Korea, Ruka and Asa from Japan, and Pharita and Chiquita from Thailand.

Originally slated to be a seven-member ensemble, the group faced a setback as Ahyeon, introduced during the pre-debut phase, did not partake in the debut due to health reasons, as reported by K-pop news portal Soompi.

Babymonster was formally introduced to the world in December 2022, with its members showcasing their talents on an online survival show earlier this year.

Prior to their official debut, Babymonster had already amassed a substantial social media following, boasting 3.6 million Instagram followers and 3.2 million YouTube subscribers.

Notably, Babymonster marks YG Entertainment’s first female act in seven years, succeeding the groundbreaking success of Blackpink.

As of the latest update, the contractual status of Blackpink’s four megastar members with YG Entertainment remains unclear, following the expiration of their exclusive contracts last August.
