MANILA — Cagayan de Oro First District Representative Lordan Suan said that an employee who was heartbroken with his/her crush could file a leave from work.
“It’s up to the person. It’s up to the employee applying for the leave kung para sa kaniya heartbroken talaga siya. Kahit may crush lang siya, tapos hindi siya ‘yung nagustuhan ganun eh hindi natin ma-measure ‘yung emotional depth na nafi-feel ng tao,” Suan said in a radio interview.
The main purpose of Suan’s House Bill No. 9931 would be to allow an employee who came from a breakup to apply for leave.
“‘Yung main goal kasi natin dito is to make them more productive in work kasi pag heartbroken ka kahit crush lang naman pero masakit pa rin ‘yung damdamin niyo e same effect pa rin iyon, less productivity, less focus,” the lawmaker said.
According to proposed bill, heartbroken people under the age of 25 can take a maximum of 1 day of leave per year, 2 days for those 25 to 35 years old, and 3 days for those 35 and above.
However, Suan clarified that such leaves will be unpaid.
