WITH MORE THAN A YEAR before the mid-term elections, prominent election lawyer Dexter Francisco reminded all political parties and party-list groups to register as soon as possible or beat the Dec. 29, 2023 deadline for those who will run in the 2025 mid-term elections.

It can be noted that in the 2022 presidential elections, 177 party-list groups have participated with the hope of garnering a minimum of one to a maximum of three in the 63 allotted seats for the party-list in the House of Representatives.

“All groups intending to register as a Political Party, a Coalition of Political Parties, or a National, Regional, or Sectoral Group or Organization to Participate in the Party-List System of Representation must ensure strict compliance with the guidelines outlined in Comelec Resolution No. 10673,” the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said in a statement.

The said resolution sets guidelines on electronic filing and conducting hearings, investigations, and inquiries via video conference.

Furthermore, the poll body said the registration reception is open Mondays to Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding holidays.

Registrants who have further inquiries may then contact the Office of the Clerk of the Commission — telephone 02-8527-3002 or 02-8527-2770; email clerkofthecommission@comelec.gov.ph. (ai/mnm)
