A total of 25 Pertussis cases were logged in Pasig City from January 1 to March 22, 2024, with two confirmed deaths, the city’s Public Information Office said Saturday (23 March 2024).

Out of 25 cases, 17 were already confirmed while the remaining eight are still “probable cases.”

The local government did not disclose the age of those who died due to Pertussis.

Earlier, the Department of Health (DOH) urged the public to have their vaccines as cases of measles and Pertussis or whooping cough continue to increase.

In the first 10 weeks of 2024, the DOH logged 453 cases of Pertussis which was higher than in 2023 with only 23 cases in the same period.

The Quezon City local government has also announced that the city has been experiencing Pertussis outbreak with 23 cases and four confirmed deaths as of March 20.
